Student Generated Social Contract – Students from all classes compiled a list of behaviors they thought were important in their classroom. The following list will be the social contract for 5th Grade Science:
1. Sit up in chair and pay attention (you may be in my group later)
2. When allowed to talk – whisper only
3. Silly noises & horseplay interrupt class
4. Stay on task
5. Put ups only – Be positive
6. This is a THINKING environment, so think first
Absence - Assignments made to the class are considered made to each student, whether present or not. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to check with me regarding work or assignments you may have missed. Late work should be turned in per student handbook rules. As assignments are completed, please turn them in.
Discipline – Students are awarded 100 behavior/participation points on Monday because I expect a great week from each of them! If a student chooses to break a rule, the consequences are typically participation point deductions, ten points at a time. These points are recorded on Friday or Monday of the following week. We start with a clean slate each week. More severe behavior issues will be handled through the office as needed.
Students who behave appropriately will be positively rewarded with:
Positive Notes home/ email Praise Choice time Great BARKer office referrals
